Mediators at the Lancaster Mediation Center come from all walks of life. They go through extensive mediation training and an apprenticeship period. Our mediators work in teams of two to create a controlled setting within which disputants can have safe and productive discussions. The mediators facilitate the process of mediation by keeping the discussion focused on the issues that need to be resolved and by guiding participants to generate and evaluate ideas as they work toward an agreement.
The mediators for all LMC cases are impartial neutrals who are committed to mediating in an honest, open, informed, and confidential process.Their job is to give disputants an opportunity to reach agreements on issues that they wish to mediate. Mediators do not give legal or any other advice.
At this time the Center is actively recruiting divorce and custody mediators as well as bilingual general mediators who are fluent in both English and Spanish. For more information, please contact us at 717-293-7231 or info@lancmed.org. To apply to be a volunteer mediator complete the application at right and email or mail it to the center. All volunteer mediators go through our 40-hour Basic Mediation Training and an apprenticeship period of three to six mediations. Our mediators also participate in the Center's continuing education program.

Our mediators don't fix the disputants' problems. Instead they empower the disputants to do it for themselves.
The use of mediation is limited only by the willingness of the people 50 North Duke Street
