Volunteer In-Service Gathering Additional trainings are occasionally scheduled, and will be posted on this site. Training methods, materials, credits, and fees LMC trainings are student-centered and largely experiential. LMC trainers use combinations of simulations, skills exercises, discussion based on lectures, videotapes, panels, and simulations. LMC training is intensely practical and grounded in conflict resolution theory. They prepare mediators for their work from setting up the mediation site through all phases of the session with clients and into post-session debriefing and planning both for subsequent sessions and professional development. All training is accomplished in part through well developed training materials that are provided to all trainees. The training is appropriate for professional mediators whether they work as volunteer mediators, as private practitioners, or as employees of public or private organizations. It also prepares people to deal with conflict better when they are not mediators. Continuing education credits are awarded when available. All trainees who complete a training program receive a certificate of completion suitable for framing. Fees vary with the program. Scholarships may be available. Lancaster Mediation Center active volunteer mediators are subsidized.
